Ghost chilis, originally known as Bhut Jolokia, resembles 350 jalapeno peppers that can surely scald your taste buds. It’s so freakin’ hot that if a religious person ate it, not only would it make his hair curl, it would also bring him on his knees in no time invoking every saint in the catechism book for relief. But as scary as it sounds, spice enthusiasts and fearless eaters don’t let up. They are not bothered at all when their taste buds get damaged after an encounter with the ghost chili; and this must have been brought about by fact that taste buds, even if you damage them, "recycle" about every two weeks. They naturally grow back.

With that in mind, daredevils continue to man up and not hold themselves off from nibbling ghost chili. They just like the endorphin rush they get from eating something that is similar to a pepper spray in the mouth, a spicy mushroom cloud trying to escape the scalp, a rattlesnake bite to the throat, and a battery acid laced with glass shards. Eating ghost chilies seem to give them a certain high that transcends human understanding.
Enough said. It wouldn’t kill you if you try it. Just don’t go overboard. Remember, the Guinness Book of World Records wouldn’t name it “the hottest chili on the planet” for nothing.
